What will I learn in OpenDay?

OpenDay recreates the higher education and vocational education open day experience, for the mid career professional who wants to explore career options. OpenDay provides an opportunity to research and hear from lived experience about roles and industries before committing time and money to a career pathway.

OpenDay is focused on providing an interactive and industry informed program which will give the mid-career professional the insights and tools to make informed decisions and take action towards their next career transition. The program has 4 sessions, with each session focused on a particular stage of career exploration and facilitation by an industry guest speaker.

session 1 – UNDERSTAND

Session 1 will cover the program intent and general career transition concepts, mindset and attitude to set the framing for the program. SFIA will be introduced as the core skills framework.

session 2 – assess

Session 2 will focus on skill identification and assessment, self assessment of mindset and attitudes towards learning, and development of individual work preferences.

session 3 – Research

Hear insights on roles and industries from industry association members and professionals, and learn how to carry out research using OpenDay’s Career Change Research framework.

session 4 – aCTION

Commit to taking action towards your career transition and development goals

Pilot programs are 4x 1.5 hours sessions over 4 weeks, and are capped to small group sizes.

Participation in the pilot programs is free, post completion of the pilot series the course will have a participation fee to cover the cost of delivering the program.
